What an amazing, final week of term we had at Beckfoot Allerton! We saw the launch of the Daily Mile at our school, which we are all so excited about!
The Daily Mile is a social physical activity, with children running or jogging – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends. Children can occasionally walk to catch their breath, if necessary, but should aim to run or jog for the full 15 minutes. Already, the children are commenting on the fact that they ran ‘a little bit further than yesterday’, which is great to see! Self-esteem and confidence are being built daily. The Daily Mile provides a brain break from the classroom environment to focus on mental health and wellbeing and the children will never use their own break or lunchtime. Every class in school has been given a time to go and complete their Daily mile, and as a class they have been tasked to see how far around the world they can travel using their daily mile passport.
‘We want to get faster, fitter and stronger’ said Ceres class!
