We believe the early years should be happy, exciting and caring environment in which children learn through purposeful and carefully planned play.
The early years of a child's life are an important stage where the foundations for future development are established.
In the Foundation Stage we foster the child's own interests, needs and stages of development and offer activities which consolidate and extend learning, both inside and outside the classroom. We believe that purposefully planned, playful activities and first hand experiences are the key to successful learning. We support this with an appropriate balance of child-led and adult-initiated activities. Books sit at the heart of our curriculum. Our carefully selected core stories make language a priority, embed spoken language, teach and support the development of vocabulary and model and support listening comprehension.
The curriculum is thoughtfully planned to ensure progression and continuity of skills in seven areas of learning. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected and supported by the children's characteristics of effective learning.
We have an open plan classroom offering free-flow provision and an outdoor classroom. Children can explore the different provision activities across both classrooms throughout the day. Our provision is carefully planned to give the children exciting learning opportunities and nurture independence and self-confidence.
We are very excited to welcome all our Reception children to Rockets. Our focus for the first few weeks will be supporting the children to settle into school life and to help them begin to build strong relationships with each other and with the adults.
